Thanks so much!
Do you offer the Saturday volunteer
Our program has recently changed as our needs have changed. Drop-in volunteer opportunities will be held on the last Saturday of each month (Community Days).
What happened to the Farm Stand?
The farm stand became too expensive to run and was not meeting mission objectives, simply put. When time and finances permit, we plan to relaunch a new and improved farmer's market experience.
Can I visit the West Oakland Farm Park?
Absolutely! The West Oakland Farm Park, at 2847 Peralta St., is open to everyone. See our hours below in the page footer. We have a playground, water fountains, and bathrooms accessible to everyone. There’s no need to call ahead to visit the Farm Park -- just come by!
Can City Slicker Farms build a garden for
City Slicker Farms used to build gardens at homes of individuals through our Backyard Garden Program, but we no longer have the funding to maintain that program.
How does City Slicker Farms earn money?
City Slicker Farms is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and relies on the generosity of donors to fulfill our mission. We receive donations from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, and government support. We also have a substantial amount of earned income through various contracts (like building school gardens, lanscaping, or irrigation installation).
What happened to your other sites?
We only have the ability to maintain our primary site at the West Oakland Farm Park. Previous sites remain in the possession of the owners/site managers.
How can I access afforable fresh produce
We work primarily with program participants on site at the West Oakland Farm Park, or at one of our other partner programs. For your regular produce needs in West Oakland, we recommend Mandela Grocery. They offer fresh local produce with discount pricing for eligible community members.
Due to the nature of our work, we're not able to immediately respond.
Thank you for your patience.
